Glue to Option_Issue
-
Hi,
In the last days, I'm trying to create a custom component library for my architectural projects (with models that I aways use).
I separated the models in different files and in each one I regulated the GLUE TO option for alignment where each piece should enter in the model
(for example, a frame in vertical alignment, a carpet in horizontal, etc...).I created a new folder and organized all components edited on it, then I pasted the folder in the SketchUp components folder(Local C).
Well, when I opened a new file, the folder containing the components is loaded, however all the alignments are set back to default (none). Is this a SketchUp (SketchUp Pro 2013, by the way) normal behavior?
I really can not save a Glue To pre-configuration in the components library? Thanks in advance!

When you make geometry into a gluing/cutting component it appears in the Components Browser.
If you then do a save_as on an instance, or export it as part of a collection from the Browser it ought to retain its 'behaviors'.That is how all face_me, gluing and cutting components etc are made and distributed...
So something is being done wrongly

Remember that you must set the axes of the gluing components properly - so that the blue z-axis is pointing out of the face-plane onto which any new instance will glue/cut.
If you make the component on a face its axes will be assume perpendicular to rge face.
Otherwise after you save it make sure you use the context-menu 'Change Axes' to set blue/z-axis in the desired glue direction...You can also adjust what it glues to as you make it etc, or later in the Components Browser...
I just tried it and it worked in v2013 for me

Hi TIG!
Thanks for reply.
I followed your suggestion and when I saved the component directly from the Components Browser (save as) it worked just fine!
Also thanks for the tips about the instances context.
