Newbie question on using shapes in Layout
-
I'm an Architect, using SU for many years, but am now committed to making the transition from ACAD to Layout. I just purchased Bonnie Roskos Layout 2013 book and am having trouble with the first lesson re shapes. Please see the attached PDF. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The colored background in LO indicates that while you may have changed the style in SU, you didn't save the change. Do that by clicking on the thumbnail for the style in the upper left corner of the Styles window. (There'd be circular arrows over it until you do.)
Under the Styles tab in the SketchUp inspector window in LayOut there is a box for Background. Untick that and the background color won't show in the viewport.
Either one of those things will make the rounded rectangle visible again. It's probably best anyway to save the changes to the style in SU. I tend to leave the background white in my models and also have the Background box unticked in LO all the time.

That explains perfectly. Thanks.
