SketchUp >----->> LayOut problem

Are you sure you installed using administrator?
-
Gerrit, I've never used the "Send to Layout" command until today, but it did work.
I usually open layout first and do this...

You might try it this way and see if it lets you keep LO open.

Thank you Kris, I have no answer yet. For I uninstalled/installed this program the same way as I did with any other program I did in say the last ten years. Not that there couldn't be going something wrong here now, as you suggested.
SU8 <-> Layout3 work well. But I need the new features and some tricks that I learned lately via youtube tutorials. (My "selfemployed" buisiness stopped after 26 years. How much can one take. But I'll get over it (will I?), don't worry )Any suggestions anyone?

Thank you, Trevor. I'll try this and let you know.

Try one more uninstall/install for me and when you get ready to install right click on the installer and hit run as administrator.
-
Kristoff, unfortunately no luck with once again installing the way you suggested.
Trevor, I tried insert before. And also carefully read the page you refered to.
When I insert any new (or old) skp..... poefff, the program is gone. It is as if LayOut doesn't allow any 3D SketchUp frame. I can open the program and use its drawing features etc. but no SketchUp insert. I can load any previously made LayOut file as long as it has nothing to do with SketchUp. I'll give it a rest .... for a ....... minute -
Sounds like we need some Trimble attention.

If you have clean installed can we assume you haven't added any plugins yet including render programs?
Do you have the latest version of Java 7.0.250? You can check in Control Panel > Programs. It was a Java update that required a cold reboot in my first post to fix SU crashing. Might be worth a shot.
Have you added any programs recently that could cause a conflict?
Does your computer spec meet SU2013 minimum e.g. memory? I had to upgrade recently as LO was crashing without warning when the physical memory was exceeded.
If you have access to anti-virus and a registry cleaner it may be worth uninstalling SU and running them before trying another Administrator install.
-
Well Trevor, you just give me somethings to chew on.
As for plugins, I hardly use any.
But the rest sounds interesting enough for me to investigate. And yes, memory might certainly be an issue. -
One more option... Download a fresh copy of the SU13 installation files just in case they were corrupted during the original download.
You may already know this but if you think it might be memory you can check by pressing the Ctrl-Alt-Delete and selecting "Task Manager" which will show you memory usage. I can run most things within 2Gb I upgraded to 4Gb because I was dealing with some large images in LO. 1Gb is probably unlikely to work well even with SU8.
