NEED HELP WITH MODEL ASAP!!
-
Hi All!
I have been on this site for quite some time trying to resolve an issue with my model. It started off being an organic sculpture that has now become an architectural project. When I was designing I used various plugins to create shapes/curve geometry. My issue now is that I have multiple lines and faces within the model. Im trying to create a "shell" of the structure. I have used union, both in rhino and in sketchup attempting to create one mass (preferably a shell of the exact structure). The union tool on sketchup seems to crash. It is extremely important for me to create this shell because I am attempting to send it a CNC machine and a 3d printer. both machines seem to crash when uploading the file. All im trying to do is have one seamless surface or object. Can anyone help me "adjust" this model. Im having a terrible time working with this. Im assuming the cnc machine is trying to recognize every line. Im looking for it to be of proportion and scale. Thank you so much guys!

Wowzer, that model is a mess, too much intersecting geometry for cnc.
Would it not just be easier to start again, making it solid?

+1 on Pete's advice.
What exactly do you mean by 'adjust'? Tell you what to do or do it for you?

well my issue is i'm not sure how or where to begin to start over drawing this shape. Theres no way to just "coat" the outside or generic shape into one polygon surface/mesh? Is there any third party software capable of doing this in a timely fashion? thanks again, sorry for the crazy model i know theres a lot going on. i'm just trying to simplify it the easiest way possible...

Id hate to ask anyone to "do it for me" per say however im quite new to sketchup and im on some serious time constraints which has me on my hands and knees begging for a miracle solution. I feel as if i have all the various plugins to make this work (union, solid solution/ inspector/ the cleanup..etc.) I feel as if im at a lost on where to begin. My computer is probably also a limiting factor( Ive been letting solid solver load for about 3 full days)

Sounds like you've bitten off too much.
Try MeshLab.
Export the .skp to .obj and off you go.

I'd like to know what it is, maybe it can be modeled fast and easy from scratch.

Thank you so much. I just downloaded the program off of their site. Would you happen to have any advice as to what im doing in mesh lab? This is my first time using this program.

There's tons of info out there on using MeshLab.
If that doesn't suit you could try...
It means forking out some cash though But probably cheaper than asking for someone to fix your current.
Here's an .stl file that you can at least begin from...

It is going to be an inhabitable structure that floats on water (organic pier)- similar to zaha hadid or a frank gehry type form. It will eventually have material, structure, and curtain walls however at the moment im just trying to get a shell of this structure to make a physical 3d model of just the form
