Is there a way to map specific file locations to a toolbar to quickly import them? I have a large amount of pre-built models in various places that I need to navigate to and import regularly. Since tools can be mapped to new toolbars, I was wondering if this was a possibility.

If not, would ruby be capable of this? (I have no experience with ruby so I really don't know it's limitations and capabilities)

You might be able to write a plugin with a toolbar that could be setup that way but why not use the Components window since it was designed to do this for you already. You can set the file locations for your models as libraries or 'Local Collections.'

Yes. This is basic stuff in SketchUp. Put your components into a folder or folders and choose them as "local collections". Add those collections to favorites so you can quickly get to those libraries in the future. Place the component axes and origin to make inserting the components easy.
