Sky Tower (Oblivion Movie) - WIP

a first shot from the inside. due to bad render results, rather artistic than photorealistic.
-
This is highly impressive, I'd like to try that out in a game engine and explore it, looking forward to more updates

frustrating. the more I try to get the textures and lightning right the worse everything gets. maybe best to put this on hold for a week and come back with a fresh mindβ¦.
I wish I was better with photoshop, so I wouldn't have to worry that much about getting everything out of the renderer as realistic as possible.
Or share the model so the guys here can play with various render engines and see what they can achieve.

I can surely do that, if people want to. So you can see my sloppy modeling on some parts
Would love to see what some render experts can get out of it. Maybe a render that challengeQuestions:
- Where would I share the 50MB+ file. I don't have a filesharing account? (wetransfer probably?)
- How would you like me to share the file. Cleared from all the materials/textures or with them?
I can also share some movie screenshots and images for reference with the model.
@iichiversii: I think those game engines are really an interesting alternative to static still renderings nowadays. Could you recommend one for mac? (Unity, UDK etc.) Is this somehow straight forward to get results with them or is there a lot of coding involved?

Dropbox, here: http://db.tt/SFTUykI
Get free dropbox space, and you can upload model and materials, reference images, just zip and upload, post link.
-
dropbox sure!!!
I do have that. knot in my brain. I'll go over the model and rename materials definitions and group names so the structure is easier to understand in english and post it soon.
-
OK, there it goes:
I also included a HDRI background I did in VUE with a cloud cover beneath the model. It's not the best HDRI but maybe helpful as most HDRIs are only black in the lower half.
happy rendering!!!

Thanks, looking forward to seeing some great renders/
I have a couple of open days this week, let me see if I can add a bubble copter, the ones in warehouse are shitty. -
I use unity more than others, but cry engine is very powerful and can create very realistic environments, no coding needed what so ever but there is a learning curve, it's not easy to pick up but once you figure it out it can perform some amazing results, thanks for sharing the model, I'm working on a project at the moment and when I get around to it I may try it in a game engine
-
Had a quick go, fast dirty Presto renders, added a bubble copter.
-
Cool, love the bubble copter. Unfortunately I can't get presto to work here. I think the latest CUDA update on OSX broke it. Did you model the copter from scratch. Did you find any blueprints or just by eye?
-
Pete you ave a talent for rendering, impressive, would you mind saving the file to an older version of sketchup, I'm still on version 8
-
Futuristic!
-
Hi Castromann,
Very nice models and renders.
I am working on an unannounced project right. The futuristic architectural designs are quite similar to this building. Hopefully, I will be able to show something in the future.
Have a good day!

maybe solo can share the V8 version with the bubble copter included?
-
Very excited. I downgraded my CUDA drivers and now Presto is finally working. The image you see is a 30min Presto (MC) render straight from SU (didn't even export to studio) with quasi no material tweaking. Presto is crazy stuff. Even with DOF this is prime quality for the short render time.
Only downside: as soon as I introduce IBL or mesh lights to the scene I get massive fireflies in the render that get worse and worse the longer it progresses. If anyone has an idea why this happens or what to do to avoid this behavior, I would love to learn about it.

I can do that, if you can wait until mid next week when I get time to do a clean up and post that is. I'm swamped right now but will certainly share the model once cleaned. (I risk my reputation in it's current condition)

That would be great Pete, looking forward to doing some tests with this

Did a quick render in ArtLantis 4 added some female touch

This is my first time here.....stumbled across this site searching for a 3D model of the Oblivion Skytower. I have to say, you're modelling is outstanding! I took the liberty of downloading the model, exporting it as OBJ, and importing it to Keyshot to produce these 2 renders. With your permission, I would like to use it in future renders, incorporating some human characters into the scenes, and release them publicly. I will, of course, give you full credit for the Skytower model, and, if you wish, include a link to where people can find your work. Not looking to make a profit here, just produce some cool renders for sites such as Renderocity, Deviant Art, and Koinup. On a side note, the Bubble Ship came from Daz Studio, a model they are currently selling there. Might I suggest, if you are planning on continuing to enhance this model, perhaps you should contact Daz, to see if they would be willing to collaborate with you to sell this model.......hope you like the renders!
