Exporting DWG from SketchUp.
-
If I'm understanding it right, exporting to DWG from SketchUp needs work! I exported a plan section for a consultant and was in his office later that day and saw what the file looks like in ACAD. All geometry is exported to three layers; Layer 0, Section cut layer and another name that escapes me....
Is this really the extent of our options? In the export process we have the option to export Profile lines; does anyone use this option?
Look forward to some commentary....

Hello Utiler
When exporting 2d dwg I use the following settings:- Drawing scale & size 1:1
- Profile lines = None
- Section Lines on a separate layer. Profile = 1
- Extension lines = No
Reason why I do not export Profiles is because Profiles are exported as multiple lines.

SketchUp's 2d DWG/DXF export has a minimized number of layers, geometry is all lines etc.
In contrast 3d DWG/DXF export keeps the layers, arcs/circles etc, and is better suited to recipients who want to do more with it than using it as a very simplistic 'underlay', or a 2d-graphic element... -
