Materials / colours window on a mac?

Hi Folks, im using sketchup make on a mac. Any tutorial about materials or textures starts with 'click the create a new material', but I don't have this option in my UI. When I click on menu > windows > materials, I get the colours palette, and the confusion sets in! I can right click in the grey area of the palette to get the option 'new texture', or drag a colour from the bottom list of colours, but it's slowing me down figuring out workarounds. Are there any mac-specific tutorials for sketchup 2013, or is there a list somewhere of the differences? many thanks

I did a tutorial of sorts with screenshots in a post here not too long ago. I'll look for it.

There isn't any difference in this area between SU8 and SU2013. I'm confused, though, because your profile says you are using SU8 but you mention SU2013 in your post. Which is it?

Thanks Dave, that was ideal. I updated my profile - just downloaded make yesterday. That post would be very useful as part of a sticky about differences for Mac users, seeing as even the Trimble tutorials don't seem to cover them. Cheers, Paul.
