Very newbie. This is day two of using sketchup:

I cannot push/pull the exterior wall in the attached sketchup doc. I can't even drop paint into it. Is it not entirely "sealed"? And if so, how would I find any open spaces to close them?

      TIA,
      Brian

        @Brian

The reason you can't PushPull is that you need a face to do that to... you SKP only has a few faces, it's mostly lines...
Also when you paint you have no faces to receive the material...

I drew an enormous circle centered on the plan and selected all, then used the context-menu 'Intersect' a few times...
Most of the edges then took faces.
I erased the unneeded outer circle...

BUT if you set your Style's edges to show profiles thicker, with end-points, but no 'extensions' you can see some lines are still 'unfaced'.
        See 0...
Some of these lines - like single line room dividers - are to be expected, but others look like they ought to 'face' BUT if you zoom in closely you'll see that sloppily drawn lines are not orthogonal and form thin wedges etc - see 1 & 2...

This looks like a CAD import ?
It's best to leave that as a group or component and over-draw it afresh...
Either way... try and use Rectangles to form parallel rooms or individual walls that will auto-face. Where they overlap they'll intersect, then you can use the Eraser tool to remove unwanted parts for non-rectangular forms.
When drawing individual lines watch the rubber0banding's [inferencing] color - red/green - so you know they are axial etc... hold-down Shift to lock edges axially while drawing them...

Wow, that's a lot of errors. Looks like I need to zoom in tighter on my drawings to ensure my lines are straight. I just assumed that they snapped into place in a straight line, but apparently not.

Lots of good info in here TIG, I'll to go through it this week and make sure I've digested it fully. I think an actual class might help getting the basics done. At this point I've been just drawing lines and connecting them to create the walls.

There are many good video tutorials on YouTube...
            Starting with the basics...
Search for 'sketchup tutorial for beginners'
Adding in 'floor plan' covers much of what you are attempting...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=juqRzHWEZcw is pretty near what you want to do...
