Lock to Parallel or Perpendicular lines

Just as you can lock onto the x,y, and z axis with the arrow keys when measuring or drawing a line. There are times where you can follow the pink-line-tracking to continue a line that is parallel or perpendicular...not at all times does it lock onto pink, so as a solution:Is there a plugin or undiscovered way to lock on to drawing a line that is perpendicular or parallel (pink line tracking)...In other words, can you lock to the pink tracking or hot key like you can with axis locks?

Just press "shift" key once you get that pink-line to lock the direction.
