HELP! Revit to Sketchup problem
-
Hi. I just made a 3d model of a simple house in Revit from scratch. I wanted to apply materials/textures to it and render it in vray so I exported it as a .dwg file to my sketchup pro 8. The house loaded as a scene and I can apply materials to my model. But the only problem is that I wanted to add sketchup components (e.g., chairs, tables, car) to my model but they wouldn't appear anywhere. I've tried searching answers and I couldn't find any. Please help me!

Have you got the Units of the exported dwg and then matched them in the Imported geometry - set in the Import 'Options' sub-dialog in SketchUp ?
Measure something in the imported geometry using the Tapemeasure tool and see if it's the size you expect...
For example, if you have jumbled up m & mm the SKP components might be 1000x or 1/1000 of the mis-sized imported geometry - thus making you think that the components are not adding but they are either so big or so small you can't see them
Also check your imported geometry's origin is set NOT to be the CAD origin [again set in Options], otherwise the imported geometry could be located many miles from [0,0,0] and thereby cause graphics glitches etc in SketchUp too... -
As a side note, I've found that simlabsofts dwf importer works great and keeps transparency and material colors.
Something dwg import doesn't do. -

So that's where I went wrong. Thank you so much. I rescaled my door and it automatically rescaled the building too. You were right, the components were too small.
