Hey dear fellows - Im new to this forum - I'working now with sketchup 8.0 and the Vray Render 1.49.01 I think everything works fine for me - but at the moment I have a project I'am working at and I don't want any shadows at all.

In the global enviroment options I disabled the shadows

In the sketchup shadow settings I also disabled first "display: on ground / display: on faces" I dont have any additonal light sources then the GI Light.

What should I turn off to don't render the shadows? At this point I don't have a clue 😞

Thanks for you help - it is appreciated!

      regards Badeindi

try your vray material editor - there's an option to not cast shadows (you'll have to do it for each material)

Remove the Sky map from GI and Background under Environment.
Might need to turn off Default Light under General Switches.

That's what I do - and then usually reply in a plain colour in the GI to give a nice soft light from all direction that leaves no shadow.

SketchUp's own shadow settings has no effect on VRay (other than controlling sun position)

oh, right- turn off default light in the global options. Background doesn't add any illumination does it?

No - it doesn´t. Just assumed that the sky wasn´t wanted at all.

Hi Guys! Thanks for all the replies! 😄 I`ve found the solutions but you all pointed towards the solution too - in "Settings Enviroment" I went to GI Color and then to the "M" button to switch off any shadows in the window "TexSky" - no shadows any more 😎

                best regards

I have the same situation, but I don't know how to remove the skymap from GI, Background is off and Default Lights are off.. I keep getting the shadows from my sketchUp model. 😞 This is driving me nuts!

The little "m" button stands for editing the map of that item. Besides, I found that you don't have to turn the whole sun off, making the whole result dark. You onlt have to get inside the sun map, and turn off shadow
