[Plugin] TIG-ElevTag v1.0 20130603
-
(c) TIG 2013
All rights reserved.TIG-ElevTag.rb
Loads Extension TIG-ElevTag.rb from ../Plugins/TIG-ElevTag subfolder
Requires the component ElevTag.skp [v7] in the same subfolder.Usage:
From right-click context-submenu only: 'ElevTag...''Add...'
This lets you place an 'ElevTag' instance in your model.
Then you can Move/Rotate it as desired.
Its initial state is with all 4 pointers shown [ABCD] and the 'Refs' = 1 and 2.
When you select another tool [say Select <spacebar>] to complete the
placement/adjustment then a dialog opens.
This is the same dialog as if later you had selected an 'ElevTag' and used the
context-submenu and chosen...'Edit & Scene-Tab...'
Note: this only appears if an 'ElevTag' instance or equivalent group is selected.
This opens a dialog that will let you set its:
=Type : the ABCD arrows to display - all the permutations of the 1/2/3/4 arrows,
the initial default = 'ABCD'.
=Ref 1: the text in the top part of the circle - default = '1'
=Ref 2: the text in the bottom part of the circle - default = '2'
keep to 1 to 5 characters, to keep within the circle...
=Show 'ABCD' ? : to control visibility of the Arrow text 'A' etc, Yes|No,
[initial default = Yes]; useful with single arrows where it'd be superfluous,
so s Single-Arrow's Scene-Tab Name will not include the ElevTag's 'Type' letter
if 'Show?' is set to 'No'. Multiple-Arrow Scene-Tabs Names always include the
'type' letter even when 'Show?' is 'No' because otherwise they cannot be
named separately.
=Target Distance: [in current-units] controls the initial zoom size
[you can always zoom in/out later and update the Scene-Tab],
a smaller distance == a closer zoom.
=Click OK and the initial ElevTag Instance is converted into a Group
[unless it is already one and you are now editing it later on], this Group is
named after the Options e.g. 'ElevTag-AC-1-2.3'
and the chosen Options are then effected.
=Click Cancel NOT to change Options.
A second dialog then asks if you want to make Make the Scene-Tabs for each of
the Arrows:
Yes: to Make it.
No: to Skip it.
If 'Show?'=='No' then Single-Arrow ElevTag Scene-Tab's Name will not have the
'Type' letter, e.g.
Elev-1-2.1
If 'Show?'=='Yes' then Single-Arrow ElevTag Scene-Tab's Name will have the
'Type' letter, e.g.
Elev-A-1-2.1
All Multiple-Arrow ElevTag Scene-Tabs' Names will always be prefixed with their
'Type' letter, irrespective of the 'Show?' setting:
Elev-A-1-2.3
Elev-B-1-2.3
etc...
If a Scene-Tab already exists with a specified 'Name', then the dialog is
different - it warns you and offers:
Yes: to Change it.
No: to Skip it.
Cancel: to Abort the Operation and Change the ElevTag Options in a reopened
dialog.
Note how the dialog's last used Values for the ABCD, Show?, Target etc are
reused during that session.
Never rename an 'ElevTag-...' Group as it will no longer be recognized for
Editing etc...
Never edit an 'ElevTag-...' Group and delete entities within it, as I then won't
work properly...
Never change the contents of the 'ElevTag' SKP in the tool's subfolder.= v8 only.

Hi! This plugin is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!
Is it possible to place the solid section on the walls? I also noticed that the view is at the tag level. I think it would have been better if the view was positioned 1.5m above the tag. -
To try this yourself... open the file
../Plugins/TIG-ElevTag/TIG-ElevTag.rb
Use a plain-text editor like Notepad++ or TextWrangler.
Find line #266 [it reads "up=tr.zaxis"] and insert a new line after it, with this text:
eye.offset!([0, 0, 1.5.m])That will lift the eye-level of the camera up by 1.5 meters, or whatever you add...

Hi we have using this tool for many years but found it have compatibility problem with sketchup 2019 , the "section cut plane" wont be generated after using so the view wont be "locked like what it should be in new version sketchup . don't know if it can be resolved as its really a good tool for generate elevation view in sketchup . thanks

I think you a muddling this up with SectionCutFace ?
In v2019 there's an auto-face option for Styles which is not editable.
Check that you Style has that un-ticked... -

Check that you Style has that un-ticked...Hi, thanks for reply , i did not muddling this with sectioncutface .
Normally a " section cut plane " will be generated when making a section in sketchup and the physical " plane" available to be turned on and off .
It works in 2018 version and before version when i use this plugin to generate elevation scene , but problem come out after i upgraded into SketchUp 2019 .
After i use this plugin generate section cut scene , the " section cut plane " is not be created , and the model displayed crashing when i orbit.

I think I now understand your issue better...
Whether a section-plane appears in a scene-tab or not, is controlled by each scene-tab's settings.
If if is set up right it should show the section-cut in the newly added elev-tag scene tabs - which will have been copied from the tab's settings current when they get made...To add a missing section-cut to a elev-tag's new scene-tab you simply need to activate the section cuts' visibility and activate the desire cut [then hide the scene-tabs], then remember to update the relevant section-tab to see the section.
You scene setting's can be set up to NOT copy many settings over, check yours are set up as you need them...
I don't that this has ever been more 'automated' in this toolset...
