Problem with VRay crashing SU on Mac OS
-
I have recently run into a problem with Vray crashing SU when ever I try and open certain files. What happens is when I open these 'corrupt' files all the materials in material library are constantly rearranged until SU gives up and crashes. The only solution I have found to fix this problem is to open the file on a PC and 'sync all materials with Vray'. Unfortunately, we do not have a PC with Vray on it any longer so I am stuck trying to figure out exactly what is going wrong. I have only recently started working with a Mac so I'm not sure if this is a Sketchup for Mac problem or a Vray problem. I do know that this never happened when I was working on a PC though.
I do use a number of models from the 3D warehouse and have a few textures that are images imported into SU. However, I have never had an issue with them until recently.
Has anyone else had a similar problem? or know of a solution??
Any help would be great. I need to be able to finish these models for upcoming client meetings and would like to not have to start from scratch.

I have a similar problem which is keeping me from finishing an important project. I cannot open the file without it crashing. I didn't have much success in dealing with the American Vray provider in the past. They were not very professional. Maybe this has changed for the better?

Have either of you tried our 1.6 beta, or tried SketchUp 2013 (Make or Pro) that was released today? I can't recall if it was one of our bugs, or a SketchUp bug with their observer system, but I believe this may be resolved now. If you still have the issue with our beta, you can supply us with an example scene and a bug report (send an email to vfswip@chaosgroup.com), we could test it ourselves, or you could install those updates and try it yourself. Just as a heads up, we are rather busy at the moment with our beta, so I wouldn't expect a speedy result from us testing. However it is tested, if the end result is that a bug exists in our product, please let us know so we can have this resolved in our next public release!

I am having the same problem, and the only solution that I found after long search is to delete Plist file for skethcup8.

David,
It is not clear to me that as an academic license holder of Mac OS Vray 1.49 that I can use the 1.6 version without limitation. I do not want to uninstall anything until that is in writing somewhere. I am very wary because the last time I tried to do this the representative from the American distributor took a month to get back to me to fix the license issue which was on his end and I missed a crucial deadline.
Sincerely,
William Huchting
