Anybody recognize this decal?
-
I'm building a model with a lot of decals, and I've managed to recreate all of them except these two. This is the best photo of them that I have, and it's just too blurry. Anybody recognize what they are?
I know everybody's busy playing with the new SU (which I'm holding off on until the inevitable bugs are worked out), but any help would be greatly appreciated. -
Do you know what country it's from? any details about it? I want to say it's earth with a wing, but maybe a bowling ball? What is the word? S**ace? Stace? Hmmm...
-
Having 2 stickers i think means 2 runs on a drag strip ? Or 2 yearly meetings i suspect. Could the word be ace ? If you know the country then you may be able to establish the track meeting or drag strip.Could be an 8 ball ? PS ebay has a ton of vintage drag racing stickers. There is also a vintage flying eyeball from von dutch.

I think the word is simply ACE. What appears to be a partial letter before the A isn't lined-up precisely on the baseline and is most likely just background feathers.
-
Well, I know it's from the good old U.S.of A, but that's about all I do know. The idea of it being from drag racing would make you laugh if you knew what the car was
I agree that the word is Ace, and what appears as another letter in front of it is just the background feathers.
I cannot figure out what is in the ball, and I've stared at it until I'm cross-eyed. Have run it thru several enhancement programs, but there is just not enuf information for it to do any good.
I've Googled every variation and combination of "Ace", "Wing", "decal" "winged ball", and "what the hell is this?" but nothing.
There's only one of these vehicles left, and it's in Nashville, TN. Maybe I'll make a road trip this summer to see and photograph it, plan it so that I can also visit a number of vintage gas stations, diners and old barns that I'm interested in. That could be fun.
Thanks for all the input. -

Image on the ball looks like a swan to me.

The rounded black form on the left is not an head with an reflective helmet by left half side view ?
So maybe an american Football club ?I have also try the avanced research of Google image (Black camera icone + adress link of image) but without significative results
-
Wouldn't be easier to find the car picture in a better resolution ?
-
I've got the email address and phone number of the museum in Nashville, going to contact them to see if they can help me out. Worst case scenario -- "No!"

Gee, I hadn't thought of that!
I have scoured the net several times over, but if you find one you let me know.

A bit more info might help, such as type of vehicle it is on and year. I'm guessing a bus. But without some point of reference it could be anything. There being one in nashville doesn't mean it's from nashville. I may well be a local highschool football team from Buttplug, Nebraska.

I'm really having a hard time believing that's not a letter in front of the A and that it's not somehow connected to the S blob. However I can't seem to find a word that fits.
Let's ask ourselves what's round that you would only put one wing on? Sports? Racing? Flying?

They didn't come as a set because they both point the same direction. A gift for attending something each year?

New interpretation (better than a Rorschach test!
Seems that can be a girl who fill the cabriolet car's tank at a petrol station!

Trust a Frenchman to find une femme in something as vague as that.

Yeah, sorry Box. It's a project that's almost finished, and as a rule I don't like to give away what it is until I'm ready to post it here on the forums. Just one of my many, many quirks.
And, no, it's not from Nashville. It was built in Cincinatti, Ohio, for a company located in St Louis, Missouri. It may have spent some time in Buttplug but I can't verify it@krisidious said:

You may very well be right about there being a letter in front of the Ace, and, yes, it does sort of look like there's a fancy "S" in the round blob. But I can't put them together to mean anything. Space?

Your enhanced version convinces me it's actually an alien feeding a bear

Your clues weren't cryptic enough, I found the car itself.
It appears to be some sort of Vintage car rally sticker. Something like a record of entry or timing stage. Many cars have multiples.
Have a look at the great race .com If you meander through all the gallery photos you should find a clear shot somewhere.

BOOOOOM! Way to go Box.
