Can't get ROUND CORNERS Plugin to work In Sketch Up 8 on PC
-
I'm having great difficulty in getting The Round Corners Plugin work in Sketch Up 8. I've downloaded and extracted the files LibFredo6_4.3 and RoundCorner_2.3a into the plugins folder as directed, but when I open Sketch Up the Round Corners tool doesn't work. The icons show up in the tool bar but they don't do anything. Anybody have any ideas whats wrong or how to fix this?

Pretty much every time someone posts this sort of thing, it turns out to be due to incorrect installation of the plugin and the LibFredo6 files. I would suggest that you go back to the first posts in each thread and read about installing them and make any needed corrections. Also make sure you have established full read and write permissions for the Plugins folder. If you still have problems, post screen shots of your Plugins folder and the Libfredo6 folder. Try running the plugin with the Ruby Console open and post any message you get there as well as any error messages you get when SketchUp opens.

Here is an image of my Plugins Folder and the contents of the Ruby Console when I try to use Round Corners. Any Ideas what is wrong? all my other Fredo Plugins work great.

How do you have permissions for the Plugins folder set?
@unknownuser said:
Permission denied - C:/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/Fredo6Trace.txt>
This would seem to indicate the permissions aren't set so that info can be written to the TXT file.

Some tools need to write files into [or into folders within] the Plugins folder - e.g. logs, temp-files etc...
As Dave has said, therefore you must have your security-permission set to FULL for ANY folder/file that you want to 'write' to.
By default Windows makes folders within 'Program Files' read-only...
These permissions permeate down to files and subfolders with that folder too.
So, even if you do manage to 'force' a toolset's files into the Plugins folder, then it can still fail to run properly, because the tool still can't write files in the folder.You will need 'admin-rights' to make the required changes.
Navigate to the SketchUp folder and select the Plugins folder's icon: right-click > context-menu > Properties > Security > Edit...
Set the permissions to FULL for everyone listed.
OK to apply and close.
The FULL permissions should automatically trickle down to all contained files and subfolders etc...While you are fixing things... as well as the Plugins folder you might consider SketchUp's Components, Materials and Styles folders for similar permissions...

Got it to Work! Thanks to all for the help. Much appreciated.
