Maybe I need to find some international work. I don't know if I want more, though.

Hey Solo! Got the chance to read the catchup article only a couple minutes ago, and the hardware configuration sounds excellent. Is the deal still ongoing? Can the product be shipped to Europe? What would be the final price? Thanks a lot!

Pibuz, if you look at the article in CatchUp again, or read the first part of this thread you'll see it's a US only thing. Apparently no overseas shipping.

Oh I see, sorry: I must have read too fast!
What a pity! I have to get a new machine, so - just out of curiosity - I'll let you guys know what will be the price of your hardware configuration here in Europe πŸ˜„
              Thanks!

I am very interested to get one.

I live in Saudi Arabia, but I have a forwarding Address in New York. I have sent them an email and waiting for their feedback.

I'm curious, Dave. Do you know why they won't ship overseas? If it's a cost thing, couldn't they offer overseas shipping for an increased shipping charge? I guess maybe the additional cost might wipe out the savings of buying the machine, but I can't imagine it could be that much.

As for me, I've had to put getting a new machine on hold due to a number of substantial expenses I've had recently. Don't know how long this offer will exist, maybe I can recover in time to snag one.

I don't know why. Solo said from the outset that the deal was only available in the US. The why of it wasn't communicated.

So I'm really interested in one of those machines, but I have a question about the video cards I hope someone can answer. Is there a considerable noticeable difference between the 660 and the 680 in plain sketchup, non-render use?

Nope. The difference is when you are using an app that is GPU reliant like rendering, the additional speed, clocks and especially additional ram makes the difference, in SU however you will not notice it, I have a 660ti 3gb and it rocks in SU, even a Titan card would not make any noticeable difference.

no, the CPU rules for SU not the GPU.

the GTX 680 has 5,620 and the GTX 670 has 5,334 PassMark points = ~5% difference = no remarkable difference at least in SU.

Even the GTX 660 has already 4,076 PM points (~200.- U$)... probably already sufficient and the saved bucks can be invested in the fastest core i7 'Ivy Bridge' avail... or a fast/big SSD (e.g. Samsung 840 Pro).

Finally got my new machine from JNCS. As expected, it was thoroughly checked, and the difference in quality from the bum version I got a couple of weeks ago was, well, can you spell "night and day"?

Everything was great from the get-go, and all is forgiven for the poor quality of the first build. JNCS paid a lot of attention to the nuances which included overclocking and a 36 hour stress test (which I didn't ask for, but they graciously incorporated), comprehensive installation of all required drivers, a QA checklist, and a power cord to boot!. (OK, I make fun of the missing power cord from the first delivery.)

As an aside, the owner of the company spoke to me again, and he told me that they "released" the person who did the original build for me. Apparently they had noticed a few performance problems with this individual previously, but this was the straw that broke the camel's back. Too bad I was the test case (on both sides). 😞

Nevertheless, I am extremely pleased with the end result, and, in the end, I did't mind the wait. Hopefully more of you who read this will be similarly encouraged. A co-worker who looked at the specs and the price said I was getting a supreme deal. So be it!

                            Go forth and purchase!

                            Frank.

Great stuff, glad you got it all worked out, so far everyone now that bought is happy.

                              Except me. 😒

I unfortunately never reached my funds needed, so it's a wait and save.

I received my computer a couple of weeks ago. Nice clean build. It was nicely packaged when it shipped. Now I just have to wait for the new release of Thea to see what the gpu is capable of. (or purchase octane) This was not my first custom rig built, but it was the first with no issues upon arrival. I will buy from JNCS again.

                                      Thanks,

I'm talking with the management of my company about my new machine. I think I would like to get one of these. Some of you have had a few months to get to know these machines, how are they performing? Have you been happy with the service from the company?

Also, I'm using SU Podium, does anyone know if the software is similar enough to Thea that everything should still be "optimized"?

I also have to use Civil3D and the Adobe Suite ...pretty sure I shouldn't expect any issues there either right?

I haven't gotten my PC yet but this should work very well for you. It has a CPU with a high clock speed and good graphics card. Both of these will help SU and your Adobe Suite to perform well. The CPU is quite good for rendering and will serve Podium very well. I'm not familiar with Civil3D but I'm sure it would also benefit from the good CPU and graphics card.

The SSD will help programs open faster. Adobe, to me, is notorious for long opening times so if you open it several times a day you'll notice a difference there.
