Sort layers
-
hi,
is there any way to sort layers? can't find it.. -
You can sort the layer names into alphabetical order and reverse the order by clicking on "Name" at the top of the layer list. You can also sort by visibility. I believe that's all there is, though.

ah ok, going to do the old "A1_this, A2_that, ..... Z99_blah" workaround. thanks!
-
I number layer 01 to 100 material 001 t0 00100 assemblies 0001 to 000100 sub-assemblies etc etc
Then select item and look in the entity info to see the layer or in the outliner to get deeper in nested components/groups.

Yeah. Sorry. Alphanumeric is the option for you, I guess.
Of course the order in the list has no impact on the model itself. You could use whatever layer names you want so maybe you would want to use names rather than just the old A1, A2...
-
yeah i know it doesn't impact modelling, its more of a OCD thing

Don't worry, Peter. I didn't get it either. It doesn't appear to have anything to do with your question. Evidently it's just information.
-
It certainly speeds work when you have a number of layers to be able to find them quickly in an organized list.
-
Indeed it does. I tend to use names that generally describes the components associated with the layer instead of just numbers or letters. For me they make more sense.
-
Numbers and name that keep the order and the ability to add related entity to be added by just adding a .##
