Faces All Reversed
-
Hi All,
First post here that I know of...been using SU for many many years, though.
I think someone has to have asked this question before but I must be searching for the answer poorly.
I have a model...not every model...that I am too far into to start over and somehow, every single face I create is backwards. I have to reverse every face. I can't figure out what I did that I am now somehow in an alternate universe inside my model.
The only think I can think of that I did is I rotated the model (of a house) to be correctly oriented to the sun after importing a cad background. But I can't see how that would do it. I did not rotate the axis.
Anyway, I've had this happen before but never on anything really important...
It's not an insurmountable issue but just curious if someone knows what I did and/or if there is a cure.
Thanks!
Ron

When you create a face the order of adding the vertices dictates the face's orientation.
Except if the face is on the ground, flat at z=0; then it always faces downwards irrespective of the direction cw/ccw of its vertices... This is because SketchUp assumes you will want to PushPull it upwards and leave a base face in place.
The right-click context-menu 'Reverse' becomes available in the command list for making a Shortcut [under Preferences] if you have a face selected when first opening Preferences...
It is highly recommended that you have a shortcut to 'Reverse', 'Orient' is also very handy... -
Now that TIG has explained what is going on in your model... I would offer some tools to fix what has been done.
TIG Fix Reversed Face Materials.
