Rectangle Light Problem

I have set rectangle lights to invisible, but they are appearing a distorted black in render.
Can anyone tell me why?

can you post a picture? I wonder if it's something having to do with how it casts light in the scene, you might just be getting some strange shadows.

I didn't have the time to work it out so I used ies lighting instead.
