I have a rectangle with both ends sloped at angle. I would like to increase the length, but the push pull tool goes pulls in the angle of the slopes and the scale tool alters the slope. How do I lengthen it, I am completly stuck
thanks

Hi Jasemilly, any chance for at least some images - or preferably the skp file itself? (See the "upload attachment tab under the text area of where you write your posts)
-
Select the sloped face and edges and use the move tool using arrow keys if desired to lock to XY or Z axes. If it is a single edge of a rectangle - select the edge and use move tool as above.
-
And for confort of the bounding box selection if your volume(s) is inclined in the 3D space
Use Fredo Scaleand useful too for the transformation itself

As Gary said, using the Move tool is a good way to do it. Instead of locking the direction with the cursor keys I prefer to use Shift but both ways work. Shift is a single button that works for any move direction and it is on the left end of the keyboard so I don't have to reach across to to the cursor keys. I didn't lock the move direction in this clip and you can see what happened.

If you prefer to use a plugin to do things you can easily do with the native tools, Pilou's suggestion also works.

Hi Jasemilly, hi folks.
A rectangle is a 2D figure and cannot have slanted ends. A trapeze looks like a rectangle with two slanted sides.
I assume that you mean a rectangular block.
If so, see this SU file for ideas.

Jean, is that different than my video shows?

You have not on the right a Shift key near the 4 cursor keys?

Sure. I have a Shift key on the right side of the keyboard, too. But why would I reach across the keyboard with my left hand to hit either the right side Shift key or the cursor keys when I can more easily reach the Shift key on the left? My right hand is on the mouse the whole time.
My left index finger mostly hovers over the Shift and Ctrl keys while I'm working in SketchUp because I seem to be using them so frequently. I tend to use my left hand to activate most keyboard shortcuts and have very few that require both hands so my right hand stays on the mouse most of the time.
How did you conclude that I didn't have a Shift key on the right? It seems like a big leap to me.

I don't use the cursor keys. There's no need for them as far as I'm concerned. The Shift key works to lock direction no matter what direction, even off axis.

Hi Dave, hi folks.
Sorry, I could not see the video because of all the blocking software the company is using to stop people from seing videos, hearing music, etc.
I only saw a large white rectangle.
-
Curious normally that is France who is blocked!
This time I can see all animations
And there is no music in these animations so more curious ! -

Pilou, I made my video before 4:00 am this morning. the rest of my family was sleeping so I didn't narrate it. Sorry about that.

No problem with no existing music or sound speaker
It's just that music can be blocked video for some countries! (copyright etc...
Seems the videos are blocked for Jean! So very curious!

Hi Pilou, hi folks.
It is only at works that many things are blocked or restricted.
Just ideas.
