Fillet Plug In
-
Hi
Does anyone know of a simple plug in for filleting to joining lines. I would like to select the lines then be prompted for the size of the fillet.
Thanks -
There are several 'fillet' tools available.
For example my '2Dtools' Fillet tool.
It works in 3d, but of course for a fillet to be possible any two lines you select must be 'coplanar' [i.e. in 2d, relative to each other].
When you first run the tool the radius is set to 0.
This makes it act as a trim/extend tool on the picked edges.
To make the fillet you click a line and then another suitable line and they are 'filleted'.
At any time during its use you can change the radius of the fillet's arc by typing a new value [it shows in the VCB 'measurements' pane] - e.g. 123mm, you can also change the number of segments in the arc by adding an 's' to the value e.g. 6s
The fillet's arc gets a guide-point at its center for later use...
The last used values are remembered with the saved model, meaning that they are used when you next open that SKP and activate the tool.
There is a modifier-key toggle to go between 'fillet' and 'chamfer' modes.
While in chamfer-mode the distance used is the offset from the lines' apex; note how entering two distances separated by a ':' makes a 'skewed' chamfer.
There are extensive help files with this tool.
Search the Plugins Index - accessed from the Resources > Plugins menu item above - for both it and similar tools... -
Great help, thanks TIG
