Make solid from entities
-
hi there,
this is my first interaction here.does anybody knows a plug-in that automatically make solids from a cluster of entities? In my case i had made some volumes with Gramble 2 (Chris Fullmer tools) and i want each one to be a group. its something like "make group from faces" but for volumes.
thanks!

If each cluster represent a volume then you can use "Make Group from Faces". In SketchUp everything is just a set of faces anyway. There isn't anything special about solids - except that each edge connect to two faces.
-
A sample image or SKP would help.
If there are 'loose' edges or interpenetrating faces etc then you won't ever get a solid because the edge.faces.length==2 rule will be broken...
If you have a series of intersecting/touching simpler solid groups [say 'boxes'] then you can merge these into one larger more complex solid for using one of the 'solid' tools [Pro only]... -
hi there,
some images from the clusters of the entities that i want to make individual groups:not selected

selected

they are all ok to be solids. they were faces that were extruded (i used the gramble 2 plugin to make them - actually, if the gramble 2 could group each extruded object it would be perfect...).
tomtom, i couldn't find the "Make Group from Faces" here in the plugins index. is it in another website?
thanks for the help!

i'm sorry, the name of the plugin is greeble 2 (not gramble...)

So to put it another way...
You want to make all connected faces into separate groups.
Face2Grouphttp://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=281272#p281272
has options to do this... -
hi TIG, i have face2group. it does a group for each face not a group for each cluster (three clicks selection of entities)

It has several options ?
F2G: by Any Edge: Creates a single group for each face selected
F2G: by Hard Edge: Creates a single group for each collection of faces defined by a hard edged outer loop
F2G: by Hard + Hard Hidden: Creates a single group for collection of faces defined by either a hard edged outer loop or a hard hidden edged outer loop
