Most impressive SketchUp modelling

To be completely honest, none of the great samples shown in this thread would be possible without Plug-ins and painful long hours of recreating surfaces over and over again (work around's) until it fits. Right?

And you think that with other 3d apps you do it differenly? They may have all the plugin functions integrated but you still need patience and hard work to make cool stuff, in fact much more patience and hardwork to just learn the UI.
There is nothing wrong in having a simple and friendly interface that is augmented with mostly FREE plugins. Why would it benefit you to have a cluttered UI with all the possible tools and maybe just use 10% of them, instead of having a flexible UI?

Here we go again again...

I'll split the topic when/if it continues. It is a debate worth having, but not here.

This last model reminded me of Durant Hapke
We would be remiss to not include his work, although it was so much more than fantastic modeling.
I never missed a Durante rant, but I sure do now.
Durant, where are you?http://forums.sketchucation.com/report.php?f=81&p=43436

Where ARE all the old posters?
Their work inspired me and their advice helped me.
Were they so good they became much sought after and no longer had time to post here?
I miss them. This thread is a good example of the incredible variety of design that can be done in SketchUp.

I was looking for inspiration today. I just got it!!!! Absolutely amazing models and renders here. Great work everyone. Sketchup is so under valued and estimated for its ability of what it's capable of doing. Again, amazing work here by everyone.
Thanks all,

good, very good

Very nice. Being able to copy and paste for additional perceived detail is a nice feature when the opportunity arises.

One of my favourite compositions I have seen that is made in sketchup. It is made by Aleksandar Vrangaloski. http://www.cgarchitect.com/2012/07/pixel

You cannot leave out this Massive starship by Ken. That is of course, if it's alright with him. If you add it, make sure to show multiple views to showcase the tremendous amount of detail and talent involved.
**>> Hi SketchUpNoobie,
My apologies for the really late reply. It's long overdue. Of course, you can post any of my works anytime. However the image you uploaded was a WIP/low res image.
Please allow me to post the final renders below. These were done two years ago. I wish I can have time to revisit them and maybe add gun turrets or something, and some textures/colors.
Anyway, thanks for visiting and may you all have a wonderful new year 2013 filled with good health, happiness and prosperity!
All the Best,
_KN**

Hi Ken that looks very impressive. Can you give us a rough run down of how you created this masterpiece in SU? Can you even move around in that massive scene how many tris? How is this structured (Components, groups)?
What plug ins did you use most and what were the biggest challenges using SU to create this? -
