Imported textures not visible in free Maxwell Render
-
Hi!
When I use a imported texture of an image on a surface, I only get the color of the textures on the surface. If I'm using a wood image for a texture, I get a brown wood color instead when I render it with Maxwell Render. In Sketchup it looks fine. I want to see the real wood image in the scen. How can I solve this problem? Thanks!

hi, one solution could be to make sure that in the Maxwell Scene Manager / materials / texture / source is set to 'link to application'

When you say import an image how exactly are you importing the image? The plugin requires textures to be made into SketchUp materials (SKM) and applied to geometry... it then interprets those SketchUp materials either automatically or by your custom settings in the Maxwell scene manager.

I import an image from File -> Import... and select use as texture. I use an image as a "screen" on a TV or a computer. I also use images this way to put on facades, but I don't understand why they are not visible when I render?

Context click on the imported image and choose explode -- this will make it a real object with a proper SKM material.

Hmm, I still get just a color! I right click on the surface where I have the image and then select explode!?
-
Open up the entity info window -- when you click on the image it will either say "Image" or "Face"... if it says "Image" then it needs to be converted to geometry (ie Face) by using the explode command.

Hi! Thanks for the help so far! But I'm still struggling to get this to work. Most of the time when I'm importing an image to use as a texture, I don't get the option to explode the image because when I'm right clicking on the image, the option explode is grey!
And despite that the Entity window says it is a face, it not visible in the renderd image, just the in one color.
I'm doing this over and over, but what am I doing wrong!? Preciate some more help! Thanks!

Can you PM me an example?
Also, in the future try to keep your Maxwell questions to one thread rather than making a new thread every time you have a new question -- that fills up this forum with your questions very rapidly... which can inadvertently irritate other users.

Thanks for the offer, but after I made it as a component in another file and then imported the component with the texture it's working, for now.
Sorry, if I have misunderstood the "rules" for post new threads. I will use my previous threads when I have a new question then.

Glad you got it sorted -- it's not rules perse but there have been issues here in the past in regards to this forum which is for shared use by many different 3rd party software.
I'd rather not go through that again so I just wanted to preemptively reduce the possibility of conflict.
Best,
Jason.
