Can't save file!
-
Hi!
I have a big problem! I can't save my file! Every time a try to save it, Sketchup crash! I have tried all kind of things like remove components and explode components, in case it has to be about lack of memory!? The problems began when I imported a small image to put on a surface. I have also tried to remove this image, but still can't save my file. The only file I have is an autosaved version.
I'm trying to locate unnecessary surfaces and edges, but it seems like there is a lot of them that I can't see. I can see them in the components window, but can't delete them there.
I can't continue my work and would preciate all the help I can get to solve this problem!
Thanks!

Can you save a copy or a save_as with a different name ?
Chris
BUT he says he can't save it !
Can you at least give us the image and any save_as components from it etc. -
I have also tried to save it as an component, but the same thing happens! Any tips what could be wrong? And is there any thing I can to? Remove more objects? I'm aware that SjetUp have some limitations when it's about memory, but home many surfaces could a model contain, before problems occurs? I have 4GB on my computer, but I guess if I had more memory, SketchUp wouldn't be better!?
It's getting late, I have to let the computer be on and hopefully solve this problem tomorrow.

But he says he's got an autosave version and everytime he tries to save it, it crashes sketchup. so it seems the autosave file should have the bug in it.
You could select all and copy and paste it into a new clean file. That's one possible solution.

Memory is an unlikely culprit.
Have you triedModel Info > Statistics > Purge Unused...
?
ThenModel Info > Statistics > Fix problems...
?
THEN tried to save... -
Hi!
Yes, I tried to use the Purge Unused and Fix Problems, but that didn't help. I had to copy and paste all parts to a new file. It would be interesting to know what went wrong to prevent this from happen again in the future!? Thanks for the tips! -
You can also try to copy everything in your model, open a completely new, empty file and use Edit > Paste in place. Now try to save this new file. (Sometimes something gets corrupt in a file while - most of - the geometry would otherwise be fine)
