i've known hdri maps are used for exterior settings as a light source. is hdri used for interiors too? if yes does hdri override the lights used in interiors?

no, HDRI's typically do not provide enough samples to light an interior.

Unfortunately, we will not be able to do this until the new release with Sky Dome. I think you will be better off using Sky and placing light portals in your openings. The results are great.

what is sky portal? and "Sky and placing light portals" is applicable for rendering when daylight is also coming in room with all your lamps and lights on yeah?

they are not applicable when GI is off and the illumination is completely dependent on interior artificial lights?

              just guessing. πŸ˜‰
