In the bottom right hand corner is the little measurement window. When working in feet/inches i'd prefer to be able to continue to input data in feet and inches, or simply inches, but would prefer the display (when using the measuring tape for instance) to always default to inches to save me the calculation in my head of converting feet to inches.

      For instance... instead of showing
      1' 9 5/8"

      the display would read...

      21 5/8"

      Did that all make sense?
Is there an option to make this display in only inches?

        No.
But you can set your Units in Model Info to anything you want and enter lengths etc in the VCB using any other units provided you add a units suffix - so working in inches you can input 2'3.75" instead or 27.75 etc or indeed 9.5cm to mix things up completely !

shame that.... t'would be a nice option for semi-idiots like myself.

For instance. I had a length that I knew to be 53 inches on my drawing. I remembered that I'd drawn it to that length. Elsewhere in the drawing I wanted to see how close to that length another segment was, so I used the ruler. In the measurement window I was told this other segment was 4' 4 5/16". I know it's just a matter of pausing for a moment (like I said, i'm not a genius) and doing the simple math to make that comparison, but when you have to do this many times over in a drawing it makes you wonder why there isn't an option to display inches only.

If you set your Model Info > Units to Inches ['Decimal' or 'Fractional'] it displays all lengths in inches ?
Only having your Units set to 'Architectural' shows then in feet+inches.
BUT you can always input in feet+inches if you use the '/" suffixes - whatever your current unit settings.

I recommend you 'go metric' πŸ˜‰

That's it. No reason why that shouldn't work.

The lack of metric (just can't if everything keeps coming in feet and inches) is the reason for this.

Since my plans are eventually in feet and inches I used to always refer to that. However in measuring buildings the notation becomes busy and sometimes gets confused. Typing feet and inches as input on a whole measure plan is also more tedious. Decimal inches is what I now use on my Disto and for marking, and laying out a plan, but if you can't check your work quickly, it adds another little task. I can always set the CAD to ft and in for dimensioning later.

When I work with someone else who insists on measuring Ft. and inches, like I will today, I have to reset the disto and do it all long hand. πŸ˜’
