Fill the area with 3d pattern like texture, possible?

i wonder, if there is any suitable plugin to fill the chosen area with 3d pattern like with texture ( for later editing too )

So just applying the material to the surface isn't what you want? Are you talking about resizing the material image to fit the rectangle?

i´d like to apply 3d group of objects ( diamond plate in this case ) for chosen area, with size of pattern to stay unchanged

Oh. I see. I thought it was just a texture you're applying.

So all you need to do is make an array using Move/Copy and then trim the edges. Not a difficult thing to do.

So here's an option for you.
Draw the footprint and extrude it through the tiles. Do an Intersect Faces and trim off the waste.

That's a little more of a challenge. For that mug I think I would use Shape Bender. On the other hand, is there a good reason for using 3D geometry for drawing the mug over using a material?
