      Hey guys,

I'm back from a while of being away and busy with life. Needing to get back to the electronic drawing board. I'm looking for opinions on what are the best or must have plugs, free or paid? Thanks in advance!

      Cheers,
      Jeff

Have I mentioned how much of a laugh I get out of some of the Signatures on here!

Artisan, Vertex Tools, Vue Exporter, Instant Roof and Road, Profile Builder Pro, 1001 Bit Pro Tools. There's a new one BuildEdge Plan that looks pretty good.

That gets me thinking... Do Tig and Fredo not have any paid plugins? I need to do some donating.

They have only free ones - yes. But they both have PayPal donation account πŸ˜‰ They well and truly deserve it!

Not sure, what plugins to recommend for circuit boards.

Can you elaborate on how you usually make your models and where you feel the workflow could need improvement? Screenshots or sample models?

                  Did you see this plugin:

His profile says: Design / Custom Millwork / Plastics Fabricating

                    I'm not here much anymore.

😳 My bad - my brain translated that into circuit boards... I'm overworked these days...

There are quite literally dozens of free and paid tools...
                        Most of them are excellent

                        Your question is too general.
Whilst there are several simpler tools that span most disciplines [weld.rb etc] many suit specific needs...

                          Hey Guys,

Thanks for your input so far. Yes, my question was a bit general so I'll try and get more to what I'd like. I have been building in the cabinets/millwork/plastics fabricating industries for many years. I am currently contracting my services at a custom exhibit/trade show booth company. There are probably 4 or more different design/modelling software programs being used by the design department. They don't all play well together and every now and then, I wonder if I should be looking at different software to use for myself. When I get a design file, usually DXF from an Autodesk program, it doesn't import well. The scale is usually way off and things are missing. I always boast about how Sketchup is very fast and fairly quick for the learning curve. What makes it REALLY awesome though are the plugins/rubys that everyone here has written to allow one to do things that would more or less be impossible without them. I know, based on some screenshots of uploads here, I see many tools bars that don't look familiar. I would really like to continue using Sketchup as my main design software, so I am looking for more incentive like more tool bars/rubys that would make my life easier. When I drawing what I'm going to be building, I drawing each and every part of the unit/kiosk/display just like I will be building it. I will also use these files for CNC cut files. That's a different question I'll post later. Need advice if any on scaling etc for when I export as a DXF. Anyway, I'd love to acquire more time saving, problem solving plugins that will put other programs to shame πŸ˜„. More advice and input will always be appreciated. Thanks again for taking the time to help.

                          Cheers,
                          Jeff

It is certainly worthwhile for you to look into Dave Richards blog. Design, Click, Build
                            http://www.finewoodworking.com/blog/design-click-build
There is an extensive archive of topics.
                            As for the dxf/dwg issue.
I have been using a program called Draftsight http://www.3ds.com/products/draftsight/overview/ and it has solved a lot of problems with fie conversions.
There are still the lines not meeting, etc ,etc, etc, problems but makes the workflow generally mich better.

                            Just monkeying around....like Monsanto
