HI. I noticed this with a few versions of sketchup, i usually have dual os installed, win xp, and win 7. I have all the drivers and stuff for both of them, and i update all of the drivers on a regular basis. Anyway, I noticed that sketchup and also autodesk stuff and videogames simply work better on windows xp, right now im experiencing this problem with a .skp project I made on windows xp os, and its loaded with textures, its kind of complex, it works ok on win xp i can rotate it fluently with textures and shadows but when i open it on my win 7 sketchup ( the same version of sketchup as on xp ) its glitchy and hard to work with, even when i reduce the view to "hidden line" (the white stuff only with edges). I cant make sense of it. is there anything I can do to improve 3d performance on my win 7 to be like on win xp, coz i like win 7 better and i would like to finally get rid of xp.

Turn off all the fancy fluff on Windows 7 like AeroGlass and all the other related stuff. See if it helps

Download the free D'oh Book for SketchUp 📖

Well, that depends also on the quality of graphic drivers, the graphic backends + process schedulers... (Win7 is a completely different generation).
Although Windows 7 often runs well with current hardware (and drivers) it has been reported that sometimes its drivers are not so good for older hardware. Similarly, it can be difficult to find good XP drivers for newer hardware.
