Hi,
I would like to delete some components in my folders but when I erase one for example it tell me ''warning all copy will be erased''
I click OK and not only the component in my folder disapear but the glued component used in my buildings to
how can I delete components from my folder without delete the active one glued to my buidings ??
thanks -
Are you deleting those component from the "in model" library?
-
-
Yes, that's the "In model" library. If you delete anything from there, you are deleting it from the current model.
Where do you actually want to delete those components from?
-
If you click on the right pointing arrow next to the magnifying glass in the image above there is a "purge" option that will delete all unused components from the model. Any that remain are included in the model somewhere.
-
I would like to delete the ''in model'' components without touching to the components of the models
purge is not the good solution for me , I already tryed it
becuse purge deleted every other components like sketchup origin components like chair, bench, john , julie etc... but not the components I created -
The "In model" components are the components in your model. So if you delete them, you delete them from your model. I do not know how to explain this differently but you cannot delete something without "touching it".
-
ok I see
so, my next question is
-how can I regroup components based on the same big model ? -
What do you mean b "regrouping"? These components are stored inside the model. Actually the model is their "group" (or in fact, rather a component itself) if you want to put that way.
-
here I have 2 component
if I create a bigger component I will have in my component folder
-component 1
-component 2
-bigger component
it will make 3 new components
I dont need 3 component
I just would like to erase components 1 & 2 and keep only the ''bigger component''
but if I erase components 1 & 2 from the folder, even if I have the third ''bigger component''
this operation will affect ''bigger component''
perhaps my mistake is that :
every time I copy a component and make 2 from it and past them
I clic right and do ''make a component''
this will creat every time some new components
I would like to know how to make a big component from smaller ones without creating new ones but by gluing/past them to others
and how to erase unuseless components from the folder without affecting new/final component

Holy cow! If you do what you describe I'd bet your model is a mess. I imagine the outliner is interesting. I'm not entirely sure what it is you want to do but if you want to combine the geometry of component 1 and component 2 into a component 3, you could explode those two instances and make the larger component or you could make a nested component called "component 3 which includes component 1 and component 2. Then open component 3 for editing and explode component 1 and component 2. Exploding the instances in the drawing space won't eliminate the component definitions from the In Model component library so you would still have them if you need them later.
By the way, it looks like you have a lot of reversed faces in your model. You really should correct those as you go. It'll save you a lot of problems later. We've talked about that before.
-
Reversed faces are the blue ones in your model. SketchUp is a surface modeler and so faces have an inside and an outside. The default back face color is blue and your first image shows a lot of those exposed. You should correct those by reversing them so the white side is out.
-
oh ok I see but I dont know how to do it
must I do it manualy ? -
Yes I would like to combine the geometry of component 1 and component 2 into a component 3 and not having component 1 & 2 & 3 in my library, only component 3 for this example
but I dont know what to do after ''editing'' a component
there is an option, in french ''rendre unique''
just under ''creat a group''
can I use this one for make one and only one object ?p.s. sorry but I dont remember about our talk concerning ''reversed faces''
if I understand well, ''reversed faces'' is when I copy a model and past it to the other one like a mirror ?
for example for making a bigger model I use same but smaller ones and I reverse them
but I don't see for the moment what could be the problem with that
pls can you reexplain me ?
sorry if I lost this important point
thanks -
Open the component for editing, select the blue faces, right click on the m and choose Reverse Faces.

-
What gave you the error?
-
Who said anything about intersecting? I just told you to explode the components.
-
''intersection des faces'' > avec le model
means in english ''intersection of edges''>''with the model''
I dont know what is error 183, it didn't make it again
2nd time it was ''not enough memory''p.s. another thing for coming back to the first subject
for be sure there is no missunderstanding I made another capture for explain my issue as best
the ''big'' component exists in my library
but all other components I used for make it are registred to (1-5)
1.I would like to erase all smaller components from my library but I cannot
2.If I want to creat a 2nd ''big'' and past it to the 1st one I would like to make a ''fusion'' with the 1st one and not a new component because it will put a new component in my library,
I will certainly use it but I will never use the older ones again
so I feel it takes place in my system and make my PC slower..
perhaps that's the problem with my memory now (not enough memory) because I have to much unnecessary components that I would like to fusion
I hope this time my explanations is good -
sorry I missunderstood it
now it's ok, I can make it without problem, I will show you the result tomorrow
it's 01:25 morning I will go to sleep now, I am very tyred
if you have a solution for the 1st subject pls lmk
thanks a lot for your help again
