Component / Group Along Variating Path?

A quick question. I have looked at rubies and have been trying to find something that could possibly do what I'm trying to do, can't find one. Chris Fulmer's "Component Stringer" seems close. I would like to take a group or component and have it placed at a specified increment along a path that is not all straight line. Look at the image attached.

You could use PathCopy.rb. Weld the path segments first.
