Export layers or groups to illustrator?
-
Hello everyone!
I would like to export vector lines to illustrator, but to work with the lineweights more efficiently I somehow need to separate furniture, people, building etc. What is your tip to do that? When I export as .eps it retains lineweight of profile lines so I can pick them out easily but that's how far I got to... On google sketchup website it says that dxf. retains layers but I can not open dxf. with Illustrator - can I ?
I tried layout but it also doesn't allow (as far as I know) select layers or particular groups (also it is much slower than illustrator handling the lines)
any help greatly appreciated
EDIT: I found out that .dxf can be opened with Illustrator File>Place but it doesn't retain layers form Sketchup!

Since layers in sketchUp are a different animal than in Illustrator or ACad and they aren't used to provide separation, there wouldn't be much point in retaining those layers from SketchUp. Perhaps you could create scenes that show different layers and make exports one at a time for each scene. Associate different layers with different groups/component ans use the layers in SketchUp to control which groups/components are visible for each scene.
