Maxwell Help
-
Since it seems I cant post on the maxwell forums until my VIP status gets validated, which is pretty aggravating since I'm in crunch for time, I thought I might see if anyone here might have a solution.
I am running the maxwell plugin on OSX but cannot get the software validation to work. I keep getting an error message that reads "Internal error! The system cannot be identified." this happens when i click the button to submit my serial and such. I have tried reinstalling the plugin and running the validation software directly from the plugins folder but still the same. Any thoughts?

Yeah I saw that. The real burn is that I have to wait for them to give me VIP status before I can post in their forum to get help. Kind of burns me that I'm sitting here twiddling my thumbs waiting for a solution to use the software I just paid for.

What a shame
Yes. The real shame is that they give a flying "duck" on their users (be them pay or free) but expect SketchUcation to host a support forum in their stead,

Wait ... Jason cannot answer questions about Maxwell because NL doesn't advertise over here? Guys, really?
-
Not really. Or at least entirely.
-
Ah. More to it. As I vaguely suspected. Well, none of my business -moving on.

My opinion continues to be that there should be an open sub-section at the Maxwell forums for the users of the free plugin. It could be made clear that no official support will be provided in this section but only peer support, like it exists in this forum. It would cost practically nothing to the company.
Failing that, and since filling this section of this forum with Maxwell related questions doesn't seem right, maybe somebody should start an "Unofficial Maxwell for SU forum". I have a dedicated server and I am running another phpbb forum on it, but since I am a newbie of Maxwell and rendering in general I am probably not the ideal person to do such thing.
wiadevaia, maybe you can try this:

If this issue has not been resolved yet the appropriate solution would be to log in here: https://portal.nextlimit.com/ click the link on the left side column "Technical Support Form" and submit a ticket... the Maxwell forum would a second choice but it can take several days to get access to post (when I did mine it took almost a week).
Best,

Uhhhh. This makes absolutely no sense? Why are the forums here? To answer questions about the software we use. Just because we ask questions about Maxwell is no reason to ban a user to answer questions. Are you JOKING???
-
Calm down, it's all OK -- you don't see me complaining, I understand the situation perfectly... and in the future I will be careful to make it more clear that I do not work for anybody but myself (freelance)
Best,
Jason. -
I'm sorry but this is a huge issue. Banning a user from answering questions is something that seems totally ridiculous.
-
There are alot of different people with vastly different priorities at play here -- the management is trying their best to do right by as many people as they can... but you can never please everybody all the time.
Best,

Valerostudio,
Your 'Why are the forums here?', is a good question. Have you thought that an answer might be, because a dedicated group of people put in many, many hours of work for little or no remuneration to the extent that it costs them money / time and they have to secure support from commercial 3rd party entities that gain from exposure on these forums?
I won't go into the ins and outs of what happened with NextLimit (Maxwell for Google SketchUp) as that's confidential. However, I can advise that matters have now been resolved to everyone's satisfaction and I see Jason will be continuing to advise / help in the areas he is expert in.
So I am now locking this topic and suggest we all get on with more productive matters.
Mike
