Occasionally I get a rouge material that appears in my material editor but to the life of me I cannot find it in the model, normally I just delete it only to later find out it was actually an important mat in an obscure spot that indeed needed to be there, so I was wondering if a plugin exists that I can click on a material in the material editor and select 'find this material in model' and it would hi-lite it so I can confirm it or delete it without fear.

Sometimes it's a material applied to a back face and requires deletion, I just need to confirm it before deleting.

Very needed for models from the 3DWH.

Well you can right click on the material in the "in model" materials panel-->select and then switch, for example, to x-ray mode in order to view better the selected material. Just a thought. πŸ˜„

I know that, however in some big models with lots of materials finding that material in the first place is difficult, hence the need to find it.

Only if the entities with the material is in the current context...

That would work but only in the current context and once a material is inside a group only, it won't select it.

I do not know if this plugin would dig down to groups:

TT, when you are at it (and beat me...) Your Selection toys can select entities inside groups. Would it be possible to extend it with a material selection option, too?

            Gai...

It would... though I have since found that cross context selections is asking for trouble. SketchUp doesn't like it much.
I'm thinking that it might be better with a tool like Solid Inspector that would highlight the geometry in that manner.

Well, in this particular case it would indeed be better.
