I can't export form skp 8 pro to dwg?
-
Hi i am new to this foum and am having problems exporting my model from sketchup pro 8 trial to dwg format!! Can anyone help?
Thanks -
What type of problems?
He haven't given us much to go on... -
Hi Lusodxb, hi folks.
Use File menu --> Export --> 3D modelsor File menu --> Export --> 2D graphicsand then choose dwg/dxfin the pulldown list for the file format. Use the Optionbutton for more control on what will be exported.
Just ideas.

I've tried all the export options for dwg such as export as section slice and 2d graphic but with the first option i get the 2d cad export ok reply and when i try open it in auto cad it is blank where as with the 2d graphic dwg export option sketchup just crashes or becomes non responding.
I'm not sure if the fact that i have imported texture images in to my material option that are not skp default materials, has anything to do with it?
Hope that makes sense.
Thanks for the help guys. -
Yeah I'm having this problem too - except that absolutely nothing will export to DWG or DXF in 2D format. Even if I open a new file and draw a rectangle and then try to export, sketchup just crashes.
Exporting to 3D is no problem - am I having a clash with a plugin?

So why has no one been able to solve thisā¦this is the single most recurring problem I have with my Sketchup Pro; no success exporting DWG from a plan view. I've tried every permutation of view styles (wireframe, shaded, hidden, etc) along with camera views, top vs. bottom. NOTHING.
More than frustrating.
Any help for this problem?

Yeah I second that

Okā¦
ā¦so, like many others, this problem seems to arise again and again for me and I think I've resolved the problem though I fear it may seem like one of those pat-your-head-and-whistle solutions (no real technical explanation) but here goes.
Working with a file that was causing me a problem (no 2D or 3D export of DWG) I copied my model from the existing drawing and pasted it into a new, default settings, SketchUp model space. Set up my view and went to export. Nothing. And then I tried the 3D save and received a "can't save file path" message; for no other reason than to try something I had never tried before I tried again but saved the file to my desktop. Success! In both 2D and 3D.
Being an overly organized student I am often working on models whose file is saved in a deep nest of folders. It seems that SketchUp has problems "finding" or pathing from a model nested in one file path to folders nested in another file path.
I have gone back to the original file I was working with yesterday that was causing problems and it too will export DWGs perfectly if I save them to a more surficial location: Desktop, general Documents folder, etc.
I have also tried this with five other files that I had flagged over the past months as problem files and they too are working now flawlessly.
I'm not a programer so have no words of wisdom of a technical nature to offer but this is a quick try that seems to have resolved the DWG issue for me.
I'd be curious to hear from folks if this resolves their similar issues.
Cheers--Chris

Hi Chris,
Thanks a lot for your explanation. I'm suffering the same problem with a project I'm working on currently. I just have a couple of questions. About how long does it usually take your model to get this 2D file? About how big are your models? I mean, MB and edges, faces, components? Because in another forum, or post or whatever it's called, someone from Sketchucation explained that it has a lot to do with the time it takes.
Thanks again for you information and I hope you could find the time to answer my questions. (Sorry for my English)
Best wishes
