Image Crashing
-
Hi guys.
Basically whenever I import an image into sketchup, sketchup will crash. Every image I have tried. Been doing this for a while now and I've managed to avoid using them but now I need to so I need this solved. I meet all the recommended system requirements bar one; I have 256mb of graphic RAM instead of 512, but 256 is more than the minimum of 128.
If anyone could help i would appreciate it.
Thanks
Tim

Could you share the image you need to import? what are you importing it as? what kind of image? What's the file size of the image?
i've never had a crash due to importing an image and haven't seen any comments about that so I have to think it has something to do with the image.

Literally every image I have tried will crash GSU. Even the paints with textures in the paint bucket tool thing crashes it if you paint something with them.

Weird. I've never heard of anyone reporting this sort of behavior. I don't think it's a bug with the program. Does it throw up a bug splat when the crash occurs? Or what does happen?
-
Well I import a picture, It freezes for a few seconds, closes down then produces a bug splat. I have sent millions of these things.

What happens if you disable hardware acceleration under Window > Preferences > OpenGL settings in SU?
-
Ah ha. That seems to have fixed it. Thanks mate this problems been bugging me for ages. Cheers again.
-
might means you need to update your graphic adapter driver
and probably your directx -
Well, SU does not use directx but this symptom indeed indicates that there is something wrong with the video card or - hopefully just the driver and it does not support OpenGL fully. If a driver update helps, good. Otherwise you should get a decent, dedicated video card - or use SU with hardware acceleration off but it will be much slower even with moderately complex models.

agree with Gaieus.
if the graphic card driver update does not work, then it is the graphic card (hardware) itself that cause the problem.
wish you luck with the driver update. -
Hi, I am having the same problem on SU 8 on Mac, Ive tried disabling the hardware acceleration, but still no luck. Ive upgraded to a new Mac and this started happening, are there any other possible solutions?
Thank you in advance!
