    Hi,
something i hate ( and i try to use this term as rare as possible) when applications are crashing. Fortunately, i got a workaround to prevent data loss writing for my own a little applescript. But no. It isn't necessarily THE way to work with applications.
So i spend much more time with SU 7 rather than version 8. I tried to install the last update (M2) but without results. Su 8 still continues to crash. I cleaned up my plugins/tool folder and tried desperately to update my components library. Su still continues to crash when i try to open new files.
I know, its hard to say why an error/crash happens, but maybe somebody other has experienced same issues…

My OS: iMac with snow leopard version 10.6.6

I have a similar problem. It doesn't crash while opening new files, but while I'm working. The strange thing is my SU has crashes EVERY time I use it, it's just 10/15 min wait before.

It's got to be something with the computer I have a first gen Mac Pro with Lion and SU8 M2 and the only crashes are usually the ones i cause. If your interested in working it out maybe you give me more info on your machine.

        2011 iMac
        SU 2015 Pro, 2017 Make
        V2 Twilight
        macOS Sierra 10.12.5

Apparently some warehouse-models are made in such a way, that they easily cause Sketchup to crash. There ought to be warnings about this. But of course, It was silly of me not to remenber to SAVE BEFORE LOADING, as one always should. Just lost at least two hours of work

              @harlekin96

No auto-save SKP file in the project's folder or an auto-backup SKB file you can use to recover lost data/time ??
BUT it IS your own fault if you haven't saved your SKP manually within those 2 hours !
              Get a habit...

My Sketchup crashes automatically on file opening procedure (with one condition: there must be 5 skp files in the background already opened)- very irritating.
                Reinstall does not help.

Please complete your profile details so that we might know your version, OS, etc...

It may well be that your computer is simply running out of memory because it has so many applications open.
What else do you have running at the same time ?

win7 X64, latest SU8 (the same cr@p existed in earlier incarnations of v8; Not sure that the memory serves me right, but v.7 was O.K. )

I have feeling that mySU itself for some reason refuse to open sixth file (though I've got 16 gig of RAM,)

Hm.. never dug in this direction. ...Food for thinking.
But at least I'd say I run the same bunch of software I run in good old crash-free era.

TIG means your profile so you need not repeat it every time someone needs it for help...
