Spec... hmmm...

different patterns that imprint on any face. dry stack, random size, brick & mortar etc.
mortar spacing
face push pull distance range
stone corner complexity. 0-5... 0 being single vertex 5 being rounded corner.

It would be totally awesome if it could read a texture and use something like ThomThom's heightmap to outline the stone, so that the texture would fit the pattern... but that's a pipe dream. I'd build custom textures for a kool stone plugin. You could just have a material library of various solid stone textures and apply them to each fave and then lay another material for mortar.
