CatchUp Edition 3

For an average person, you are very correct. The effect of the acids in coke is minimal. But some people consume copious quantities of colas, and the sugars and cafein are more the problem than the acid.
And corroding aluminum with cola is not a party trick. Unless the party goes on a few days, and you get a source of uncoated aluminum. Foil won't do. It's not a myth, I HAVE seen it myself.
Anyway, what was this SKETCHUP thread originally all about

But equally you could argue the same about vinegar and lemon juice! And what about all those who chew lime (the alkaline version), areca nut and betel in countries like India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka?
Can you imagine salad without vinegar, or hummus without lemon? Heavens forbid!
As for caffeine, tea and coffee have copious amounts of that. Life without coffee??? Arghhhhh let me out of here!!!!

......the thread?.......what thread......?
