Improvement suggestions

Any ideas on how I can improve this? still doesn't look quite real enough, i know its not far off.
Any help would be good thanks

real gras, perhaps with the fur plugin or postpro with photoshop.
I like it so far, did you model everything self. Can you explain how you made the windows. And i like to see a night render from this house

Looks very good. I think the fact that its such a beautiful day out (based on the sky) and yet the light is very diffused seems to make it a little less real to me. And perhaps adding a little reflective properties to some of the materials as well. But I agree that its definitely not far off. I think your best bet would be to take a look at other high-quality photorealistic renders around the web and see what the differences are.
Great job modelling and texturing btw.

stronger shadows (use the sun, but set the radius to something like 4.0, and increase the subdivision.)
Nice modeling btw.Andy

been working on adding shadows for over a week now and not having any luck! ive followed a number of tutorials and get the same result everytime! its either really really bright or the shadows just dont show up. i havent been using vray that long i know nothing apart from the very basics, really need some proper help with it!!!

Start with the basics - have you set up your sketchup sun position? The vray sun plugin is based on where you have your SU sun. The next thing is to try loading the default options, and try adjusting your settings from that starting point. Hope that helps.

Aside from Andy's suggestions as far as the sun radius etc. I may suggest that you should use the sun. now if exposure is your problem do some experimentation by focusing on one setting at the moment either just the F-stop value of the Vray Physical camera or the sun intensity. if its too bright, then i will adjust the intensity to .01 and so on and so forth. so its a kind off trial and error process. but just focus on these two settings one at a time.

My advice is to go to the Chaos youtube channel and look at the turorial on exterior lighting with an HDRI and sun. I would get a HQ HDRI and use that as your envir and GI and then use the Sun as highlighted in that video. The next thing I would do is turn on Ambient Occulsion if you are using the latest Vray. That helps define details. Add some bump maps to your rough materials and reflection to smooth glossy materials. All of this stuff can be learned from that Youtube Channel - check it out!

Besides what has been suggested above, to me the number one problem is your camera.
Think about it for a moment, where is the viewer standing? on the roof of the house next door, a skyjack?
The camera needs to be at an average human eye level to give it a sense of reality, IMO this is the first thing you do when you set up a render, get a good camera angle, a realistic one that the eye can identify with. -
I second what Solo said. Composing the view beautifully is half of the rendering process. Also look at Arrowway for a brick material that has a bump and specular map.
