How to change position of a copied form ?

Hi,
Have you tried this? If it is a component, right click and Unglue? -
Hi,
in another topic I studied components but I totally forget how to create it, I lost the conversation file unfortunately
I tryed to create a component but without success, I dont like so much creating component because it seems to be so much complicated
pls can you explain it to me one more time step by step ? -
When you have the 'copy in space' - use Make Group - the easiest... [OR use Make Component]
The objects are then collected into one thing that you can more easily move, rotate etc into place... -
I notified that if I select the part I want to copy and make CTRL+C
and after that CTRL+V the form will position itself more easy on the surface I want
after that I right click and select ''make a group'' like you told me and like this I can rotate it with the 'Q' tool.
but the problem is that, I cannot separate the pasted form from the surface
pls see example (all is selected, I cannot select only one circle if I want to modify it)
-
If you have grouped something and it sticks to a surface then you can right-click context-menu "Unglue" so it then moves freely...
-
I made CTRL+V, my element is pasted, after I right click for ''creat a groupe''
after I select rotation (Q) tool and I rotate my element by typing ''90'' degree rotation
and after that I right click on my element and I have choice to unglue but not the all element is unglued
I can move freely only one
-
Try making copy+paste, then make group, then unglue it, then move or rotate it - in that order
-
ok thanks

hi, erzane:
I think in your last image above, you did not include that remnant in your selection before moving the selection. Maybe not. But it kind of illustrates the good practice of making a component as soon as you have constructed an assemblage of unique geometry. You do not have to give the component a unique name right away, if it interferes with your workflow, but is good to go back and name it, even set up layers to place these components. After all the time I have been using Sketchup(a few years), this is finally sinking in to my thick head.
