V-ray 1.49 and SU8 Pro. Does not compute....
-
Hello,
Well finally i have a licence of v-ray at work but there is a bit of a problem with it.I use SU8 Pro on Win XP Pro 32-bit. I just installed v-ray (the new version that supports SU8). The isntall goes all fine and validates with our licence server. However when i go to open up SU it thinks for a second and then just crashes and returns a bug splat.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, restarting the computer. made sure that im using the correct install version but still just crashes. Even reinstalled SU8 Pro and it still crashes it.
Another person at work also has v-ray installed but it works fine for her, although she installed it for SU6 Pro.Im at a loss here.... is it worth just installing SU6 Pro as well and install vray to SU6?
any help would be much appriciated.

I would never go back to 6. 8 has the ability to use more RAM and that will help when rendering with V-Ray. I would contact support right away. If it was me, I would just uninstall and reinstall SU first, then reinstall V-Ray and see if that resolves the issue.

Yeah thats what i have done, reinstalled 8 and then vray but same thing happens.
An interesting note is that i installed 6 pro and then installed vray to that version. When i open SU6 i get an error message of "SketchUp cannot be started beacuse an error occured reading the licence file. Error code: 7. Error string: CANNOT OPEN FILE" but clicking OK will still open SU6 however i dont think its the pro version. but then it also opens a dialogue box relating the v-ray saying that the licence is invalid or something. even though i entered in our licence server details once completing the installation process.Ill see what i can do with contacting support, as one of the guys ehre in our IT department that was helping me with the install is at a loss with it to.
Ahh the joys of computer software.... -
Just thought id give you all an update, got 2 new computers (one just for renders) and vray now seems to work for me all fine on both computers
No idea what the problem was though...
