Cinema 4d model to sketchup?
-
hi,
i´m curious if is there is any easy way to import c4d file into sketchup.
thanks! -
I am not familiar with this program, but does it have the ability to export to .obj, collada, or can it port some other file type into another program that can make the switch? Just a possible idea and to keep the boat floating.
-
See if Meshlab can do something? But you may need the file converted to a neutral type like obj. Again, just some ideas?
-
hi mitcorb,
thanks for your tips!
i´ll try and we´ll see!
it´s been a pleasure to have you around here!
cheers! -
Hi, tibet:
Thanks for your comment. I see that C4D is a full featured suite of 3d tools, and the file type could be proprietary. I notice that the usual group of responders are conspicuous by their absence? -
Theres no direct c4d import into a SKP... you should look at the possible c4d export possibilities and then import one of those compatible file formats into a SKP...
So you need to ask questions on a c4d forum about what formats you can export to... and find one that SUp can accommodate... -

That would not work I am afraid as Tibet does not seem to have c4 at all

i´ve just found some free models in this format, and i like to import into sketchup.

So, his best bet is to find a an app that reads c4d files and exports as something that can import into a SKP - either freeware or something he does have ?
perhaps something likeBlender
After Effects
Unity
Inventor
3DSmax
and then other apps to convert some of their outputs to SKP compatible format ? -
Thank you for stepping in. It doesn't take much for me to get "out of my depth"
I notice that Meshlab does not list c4d filetype. Not sure if Blender can *port it. -
Bender does c3d but I don't think it handles c4d...
-
I have both C4D and DE, so I can import and convert to .skp. Let me know what you need.
-
@solo:
What is DE? -
Deep exploration.
-
wow!
thanks a to you all for your helpful tips and to solo for his kind offer!
i can´t believe, to get so many right answer in such a short time
good job everyone!i really admire your works, hope to touch the stars someday like you guys!:o
best of luck!

hi, thanks for reply.
i´ve just found some free models in this format, and i like to import them into sketchup.
there´re plenty of posts on the net how to export sketchup files to cinema 4d, but none via versa
cheers! -
I'm having a problem with this file, My DE says it's defective and C4D does nothing (opens and there is nothing there).
-
hi solo,
i´m sorry to hear about the problem with the file.
it comes from this site:
http://tomaslat.nolimit.cz/3d-models/?offset=10
can you try to open it in another suitable program please?
thanks! -
Hi, I used C4D for a long time, but now it is so expensive that I had to change my SW. But I have collection of C4D models and I had solve how to export some models to SU. I found one solution:
Basically I use demo version of C4D and Riptide plugin for Cinema. Demo version of Cinema opens C4D and is capable running plugins all the time. Riptide plugin is capable of importing / exporting OBJ very well.
I don't know if it works with very last Cinema demo-version, I use older demo version and Riptide.
