Does anyone know of any plugins for creating walls from lines (arcs etc) that will work with V8 of SU.

The ones I used previously in V7 don't seem to work in 8 and do not appear to have been updated.

    Thanks

I have tried Didiers 'lines2walls' and 'Multiwall31', but neither seem to work in V8

When I use it in V7 it works, but in V8 it only places one face at the end of the first wall !!!

If the lines/arcs are to be used for the faces of walls then use ExtrudeEdgesByVector, constraining the extrusion vertically in the blue/z and typing in the height or snapping to something that's preexisting that is the correct height.
If the wall is extrude up to the underside of a floor slab, or up to the soffit of a sloping roof or down to a ramp or terrain below etc then its cousin ExtrudeEdgesByVectorToObject is similar... but you then extrude 'through' the objects and then the new wall faces auto-trim to the existing objects' faces above/below them as desired...
If the lines/arcs are only one face of a wall that you want to give a thickness to then use the Offset tool on any faces the edges bound, input the thickness then use the appropriate EEbyVector... tool on both of the sets of edges at once... There is also an ExtrudeEdgesByOffset tool to offset sets of coplanar edges into a wall-like form with automatically capped ends at 90 degrees. If the walls have both face edges and end lines and faces and you want a 'flat' top then a simple PushPull will do too...
If the lines/arcs are center-lines than you need to offset half the wall thickness in the two directions and extrude the walls as outlined above......

                Thanks Tig.

I appreciate there are numerous ways to create walls (thanks for the tips), but I was a little disappointed that the plug-ins I used before, which were quick and easy and I had become used to, no longer work in V8.

I e-mailed Didier (the Author), but never received a reply, so hence my post here.

I've been working on a plugin for the creation of walls.
Mainly an experiment to collect some BIM data and export them to IFC.

But it does create walls, although the options are still limited...

                    Thanks Jan.

                    That looks useful.
Tried it drawing a couple of lines and then selecting them to apply the walls.
Works well, and I like the way corners are cut in too - looks good, even for angled corners.

Will experiment in more depth in due course and come back with any thoughts/suggestions (will come back in other thread).

you can achive that with profile builder. build your wall thickness profile then apply on lines or faces or you can do it with follow me tool also.
