I'm having a problem with the axis flipping around. When I'm outside of a component/group the axis are in one way and when I enter to edit the component they flip around and it annoys the hell out of me as it can be very confusing at times plus when pasting something it appears aligned different from what you would expect.

I hope I'm just stupid and overlooked some setting.
Here's a picture to make my problem clearer, look carefully at the color of the axis. I hope somebody has the answer for this.

Yeah but the problem is that I didn't activate the internal axis, not intentionally anyway, it's a bit random. Do you know how it can be turned off or something?
I knew you could use a different axis for each component but I never used the feature so I'm like a noob in this respect kind of sad to say that after using SU for around 5 years.

Marian, this is a new feature in SU8. The component will display the axis in which it was created while editing it.
It is very useful when needing to draw "on axis" with the surrounding geometry.

You don't activate them - they are there. Every component/group has axes and you can change them, but cannot hide/disable. This is new in v.8.

Thank you very much guys for the assistance. I can see the utility of such a feature but I wish it could be shut off.

                Marian,

                That's a fine picture of Festus Haggen's Ruth you've got there. πŸ˜‰

Right click on one of the axis in edit mode -> select 'Reset'.
This is a temporary solution that needs to be done each time you enter a group or component. But the advantages in SU8 top the advantages of how things worked in previous versions.

Dave, you seem to remember all the old series.
Now that I see Festus I do remember his terrible voice. 😲

                    That's because I'm old. πŸ˜‰ I don't think his voice was so bad. πŸ˜†

                      Hi folks.

Try Window Menu --> Model info --> Components. Uncheck the box labeled "Show component axes".

                      Just ideas.

Thanks that works, but I can't seem to always find the reset tab.

It was unchecked, so it's not from there. 😞

That's only to display component axes when you are outside the editing context. This new thing in v.8 is actually when the model axes are (temporarily) adjusted to the component axes when in editing mode.

Confused me a bit when it was new to me, too, but to be honest, it was very easy to get used to (and I like it this way)

                          Gai...
