How to copy a form put on another one ?
-
hi,
I created a building and I would like to add some forms in (like windows etc...) and copy them.
I would like to select my new form but I didn't succeed it because it's not the same as selecting a form put on the ground (basis form) with spacebar onlyI tryed with ''spacebar + CTRL'' but I can only select 7 sides and not all of them
I would like to know how to select my new form based/putted on the basis form for copy and past
I tryed to set my view in transparency for select all lines of the form but it misses one of them (ground line mixed to basis form)pls watch this capture for better explain
(sorry for my bad english) I work on french sketchup

You can add to a selection-set using Ctrl.
You can remove from a selection-set using Ctrl+Shift.
There are several ways to select objects.
Use the Select Tool [spacebar] to click on it.
If it is a face you can double-click on it to select all its edges too.
OR treble-click on it to select all of the geometry connected to it too.
You can also select by 'fence' - i.e. using the cursor in the Select tool you draw a rectangular 'fence' around what you want to select - pick a corner and drag to delineate the shape of of the fence... picking the two diagonally opposite corners in a left-to-right direction includes only things entirely within the fence [edges, faces etc]; but picking the corners right-to-left includes everything that has any of its parts inside the fence - e.g. a line partially inside the fence is included in this type of fence, but it is not included in the other type. This is very useful when adding/removing objects from a selection-set where you might be accidentally adding somethings...
Edit > Select-All [Ctrl+A] selects everything in the current context - i.e. in the model or inside a group or component if you are editing one of those...
Also I think you would be better off making groups or components of some geometry because 'raw' geometry sticks together... The advantage of groups is that you edit one and all instances update - so your windows would be good if made as components ?? -
thanks a lot for your complete explanations
they will help me a lot
I will study them
