Snagit won't Snagit
-
Yep, thanks Dave for the help earlier.
Wyatt, I tried installing BSR here at work and it failed. Must be a network thing. I will try at home.
I also found HyperCam2 which is free and seems to work well. However I like the Snagit interface better.

Ok, I am starting to develop a complex. I have tried every configuration in the profiles with no success.
I tried doing a video capture of me browsing the forums just for a check and the scroll wheel won't scroll. I checked the mouse driver and it is up to date.
Again, I am stumped and I am sure you guys are tired of hearing me whine and bitch about software problems. -
have you tired installing that Wizmouse program to see if that fixes it?
-
I haven't no. I just don't see why it is not working here when it works just fine on my work machine. Sigh.
Uninstall and reinstall did not work either.
Edit: I can't even type into a google search. The video with cursor enabled is not allowing any other function to be recorded.
-
Here's a quick example I did with SnagIt 10 i can switch to the Orbit tool and it shows and I can type in the search line for components. Eric, have you had any word at all from TechSmith's Customer Service?
-
Mine works just like that at work, just not here.
I have not heard a peep from TechSmith, personally or on the Forum.
-
Strange.
I wonder why they haven't contacted you. Did you try tech support or customer support? (if they are different)
-
I don't remember actually. It was two weeks ago, then a couple days after that. Then I went on vacation... wiped my memory clean
I did notice that when I use Photoshop on this new computer there is an visual issue when I am sliding layers around. Previously and on my work machine they move fast, no lag, but on this new machine it seems to labor just to move the layers up or down by dragging them. This is the only visual anomaly I have noticed since I got this machine. I am starting to think the two issues are related. My drivers are up to date so I don't really know what to check for.

Out of curiosity, what graphics card?
-
NVIDIA GeForce GT 220 1GB 16X PCI Expres
-
I know what to get you for Christmas... A man of your talents should have a better card.
-
Hmmm, Pete suggested this one.
-
The one running in my work machine is an NVIDIA Quadro FX 380. So far that is the only difference I see that could be causing the hangup with Snagit.
-
Maybe you could borrow the card from your work machine and try it at home.
-
Do you have a different mouse at home? I've run into problems with other software where a wireless mouse totally messed with a program. (Don't ask me how that's possible, but as soon as we installed a mouse with a cord the problem was solved.)
-
I have (2) GTS 250 1 Gig cards running SLI and I still need more...
I would recommend a GTX460. or two... -
No, that was actually the first thing I thought of too as I had a problem with the Intellimouse years back. I have the same mouse on both machines.
Dave, doing something like that could get my butt fired. Don't want to chance it.
I am really frustrated with TechSmith. I contacted them yet again last night and still have not heard anything at all. If they are like this with Snagit I imagine they don't give a rip about any of their products or their users. Customer service can make or break a business, not that this little fish will make much of a dent.
I will just use HyperCam2 for now. It is free and I can compile and edit in Windows Movie Maker. I will try out BSR as well.
If I need more functionality in the future I am sure there are other companies who offer a decent product. -
I'm sorry you had no luck with their customer and tech support. You might write to them and tell them that strictly because of their lack of response to your e-mail, you've decided to go with a product from a different supplier. Don't tell them what it is. Just let them know that they lost your business and that you'll make sure your friends know about the sort of service you received. It might get some action from them. It might not but it's worth a shot.
A few years ago I was demoing some video editing software. It was a very expensive package from Pinnacle and looked like it could be very good. Unfortunately it wouldn't complete tasks and caused my computer to crash during the night while rendering. I contacted their customer service and technical support to try to sort out the problem. They told me they wouldn't help me unless I bought the product. I told them it was like a car dealer telling me I had to buy the new car from them before they would try to repair the engine that wouldn't run. I told them I wouldn't buy a car that way and I certainly wouldn't buy their product. I ended up going with something else which worked fine right from the get go. Pinnacle customer service e-mailed me for awhile trying to get me to buy their product and didn't seem to understand why I wouldn't.

How was your Snagit Trial? Let us know...
Greetings!
We at TechSmith value the opinion of every person who takes the time to try our products. One way that we do this is through a post-trial survey. Our goal is to better understand how you heard about Snagit and how your trial went.
REALLY?!?
Two times I contacted them via contact page form, tech support form and email as well as a user forum post with no response whatsoever. How did I like the trial? Believe me they know how I felt now. Fuckers

My profanity senses are tingling!
Am I being lured into a trap?
