@Fredo: If FredoScale is not designed to do this currently, what are the possibilities:

      1. FredoTaper along a centroidal axis of a non-straight tubular mesh, such as a tree limb. It might have to impose a temporary lattice like FredoBend does, or use the suitably subdivided mesh of the tube as the control lattice.
      2. FredoStretch a mesh along a predefined or preselected non straight path such as bezier curve.

The intention here would be to do these changes after formation of the meshes for workflow.
I am sure the implementation is not a trivial exercise, so this is just something to think about.

I take the slow, deliberate approach in my aimless wandering.

I love FredoScale/ Box Taper. It seems the way Scale should have been in the first place. It pains me to say it seems to be off.

        Try this:
-Turn on Style/ Edges/ Color By Axis
        -Make a 6" square
        -Push-Pull it to ~18" tall
-FredoScale/ Box Taper/ From Center one of the long sides to ~15° angle (30° total), about 18" wide.

Now check the edges that were just lengthened for alignment to axes. I find there is not enough misalignment to measure but enough to throw things off.

Hope it's an easy fix, I use this plugin a lot.

        Best,

        Jim

          Jim,

I am unclear on what is exactly the problem.
I tried to taper the shape and did not find particular issue.

Could you please post your model or at least illustrate what is going wrong with a picture

          Thanks

          Fredo

            Fredo—

A thousand apologies. When I discovered it last night I duplicated the issue several times on my model. This morning I try it three times in new windows and no problem, the alignment is perfect on all of them. I go back & try again in last night's drawing and I still get the same issue. I assume it is a problem with that window— something in it must be corrupting new data.

            Best,

            Jim

Your cursor may be inferencing on background edges or vertices.

                Hello all,

I love FredoScale! Especially Stretch. It is amazing. However some times using stretch I have these problems:

                1. Components within the group stretch too far. Sometime this means smaller individual components will move out of their position maybe twice as far as the objects being stretched or larger components stretch way beyond the others. I think it may even happen with components whose other instances nearby did stretch correctly.

                2. The stretching is sometimes "jumpy", not updating with the mouse action and releasing the mouse it stretches a little beyond where I thought I was leaving it.

                Thanks for any help.

No, I think not. There wasn't anything in the background in two instances recently. Sometimes the tool seems smooth and demonstrates typical feedback.

                  Thank you, Peter

And you have no hidden layer geometry? (I don't know if this can cause anything)

I have nothing to base this on, but could your processor be overtaxed, perhaps you have other applications in operation but minimized and you are trying to run Fredoscale?

I know that some of the scale operations are difficult for me to select the little boxes, and depending on the complexity of the geometry the processing can take an extended period of time. But I have an old Pentium4, XPhome, NVidia MX class video card. I also have software with process hog issues. None of this may apply to your situation, just possibilities.

                                  Hi,

First, thanks for this plugin, it's great. Most of the time i need the stretch tool, i'm trying to implement this in my worflow for stretching cabinets, windows, doors, ... but i keep getting the same bugsplat while using it.
                                  even with very simple geometry.

I make a cube and group it (let's call it cube1). A make a copy of it (cube2) so i have the exact same cubes next to each other. I select both cube1 and cube2 and putting into a new group (cubegroup.
so now i have a my newly made group (cubegroup) with 2 nested groups inside (cube1 and cube2). I can use the stretch-tool on this without any problem. After stretching I duplicate my cubegroup. In my entity info window i see that there are 2 of these groups in my model. when i try to stretch my 2nd cubegroup, i get a bugsplat. see my video:
                                  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxhelxITBO4

Now when i do exactly the same, but instead of trying to stretch my second cubegroup after duplicating it. I first edit my group by entering it, and leaving it. Now my Entity info window says there is just 1 of group of this in my model instead of 2. take a look at my second video where i don't get the bugsplat:
                                  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xGhham4AxM

                                  any explanation?

                                  thanks

Su 7.1+ plus here and see the following:

                                      1. Bug splat for the stretch of the 2 cubed group and can get a bug splat for stretch of just one of them. No bug splat for stretch of one stand alone, before making copy.
                                      2. Outliner shows the two groups. Report back to 1 by entering edit mode and leaving confirmed ❓
3)Instead of making groups the cube1 and cube2 were made in nested component then no bug splat. Checking placement of stretching plane shows the tool will change the definition, say of cube2 if plane is thu it and not cube2 in other instance of cubed into differnt instances.
Ckecking version , may have 2.0

These bugsplats may be related to the fact that when you copy a group, it behaves as a component until it is edited or modified. Normally FredoScale makes them unique, but there may be problem for these type of copy-cat groups.
Also, having the outliner open is usually not recommended, especially with version 6 and 7.
